Old rating - A 330ml bottle picked up from the brewery in 2015 & cellared since then. Simply outstanding in every aspect especially as I really like Rye beers.

2014 vintage from the Struise webshop. Pours deep brown, almost black, with a beige head. Nose is bourbon and candi sugar, light esters and some malts, rather sweet all in all. Taste is bourbon, dried fruits, bread malts, dark sugar and caramel, some ester but not as much as in the aroma. Closes with a boozy bourbon finish with hints of caramel, pretty nice but it ends kinda abruptly. It has a medium body and average to lively carbonation, the 10% doesnt show. It’s a solid, tasty brew but lacks something that would make it world class.

2013 edition. Aroma of malts, sweet dark fruits, caramel, fudge, dried fruits, candy sugar, bourbon, rye, wood. Flavour is similar, dark fruit sweetness with some alcohol. Generally I’m not a fan of sweet beers, but De Struise Brouwers seem to make it work.

Very dark, nearly opaque red, thin off-white head. Smells boozy with the bourbon, plus fruit, malt and light caramel. Flavour has the same. It's rich, sweet, warm and has distinct bourbon along with dried fruit, bread, caramel. Rich, sweet and super tasty.

2014 vintage. 330mL bottle at Kulminator, pours a deep dark mahogany brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is pretty faded, with dark dried fruits, cardboard, light Belgian yeast, bready caramel. Flavour is a little faded but still complex, with Belgian yeast, bready caramel, toffee, and some candi sugar. It's a bit past its prime but the beer is quite exquisite underneath. Very nice.

Bottled. Rubyish brown colour with a mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, toffee, some rye and mild vanilla and rye tones to it. Flavour is barrels, some sweet malts, alcohol, bready and mild toffeeish tones with dried fruits and some spiciness. A bit sourish rye notes to it as well, so most likely a wee bit too much rye in it.

2013 Triple version drank 2021. Foamy off white head left a collar on a reddish brown still body. Bourbon, raisin & malt aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a tingle on the back & clean aft. Bourbon, malt, chocolate, jam & berry tastes with a big boozy finish. Good one.

*Rating overgezet 2016* Het is een troebel roodbruin bier met een dun beige schuim. Het heeft een zoete wat alcohol achtige geur. De smaak is moutig, caramel en drop achtig.
