Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy handsome deep red with a creamy pinkish head. Dry aroma of red berries. Medium body, a very dry and even tart berry-like fruitiness with this earthy and dusty feel that elderflower/-berries always has on me. Minerally with a very bitter finish, not hop bitter rather a herbal astringency. Interesting, but a bit too dry for me. 300812

On tap at John Bull. A reddish, lightly unclear beer topped by a small, off-white head. Roasted, caramel aroma with lots of hops. Piney and resiny. Full to medium body, pleasant carbonation, and with quite a lot of bitterness in the end. Lightly roasted, caramel-like maltiness in the initial flavour. Lasting finish. Well, it’s a nice beer, but I’m not impressed. Doesn’t remind me much of a saison either, but then again, what’s a saison? 120816

Bottle from barleywine, clear red, smooth slighlty fluffy red head. aroma is quite hoppy with a red fruity touch, hops are dry and flowery. flavor is mild, hoppy, fruity, flowery, bitter but also soft, doesn’t taste like 6% at all, could be a good summer-sun-beer.

330 bottle @ Ølbutikken. Pours clear deep ruby red with a big frothy pink head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is tiny sweet, tiny sour, fruity and herbal with old bread, lemon zest, fresh grass, dandelion, black pepper, dry soil, summer flowers, wood, yeasty esters, elderberries, leather and subtle hints of barnyard. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, very tiny sour, tiny fruity and herbal with crackers, elderberries, straw, wood, pine, orange peal, dry soil, lemon balm, grapefruit peal, grape zest, fresh grass and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter with grapefruit peal, lemon peal, crackers, dark grapes, lemon balm, fresh grass and dry wood. Very hoppy for a saison. Very astringent.
