Bottle from Beergusto.com. Clear ruby color with medium light pinkish head. Strong cherry aroma with cherry stones. Sweet cherry taste with stones, vanilla. Very fruity, sweet beer. I was expecting bit more from this.

Look: clear ruby/cherry colored, big pale rose creamy head with good retention.
Aroma sweet cherry syrup, a touch of funk / green fruit seeds.
Taste: very sweet, cherry sweetness, balance by rather strong acidity, no much lambic character.

Also tasted under its original name Louwaege’s Kriek; apparently the name Louwaege has lost its effect now that this brewery has ceased to exist for many years, so the Heineken managers decided to use the name of Alken-Maes’ lambic brewery for it. The content hasn’t changed much: a syrupy, sickly sweet, one-dimensional and sugary, artificial, lemonade-like, light ’summer kriek’ only suitable for people who don’t like real beer, or real fruit. Lambic is hardly noticeable in this type of products - if not totally unnoticeable.
