RBESG August 2011, Craft Beer Co. Black with a lasting and creamy off-white head. Aroma of cherry, oak, funk and a bit of chocolate, really nice and intriguing. Chocolate and roasted malt flavour with some cherry and acidic tartness. Ends with grainy malts and an unpleasant popcorn note.

bottle@GBF 2011: pours a, murky very dark red (going to brown) colour, not much in the way of a head, smell is plenty of wood as well sour & tart cherries plus some lactic bacteria, taste is very woody, funky, tart cherries, sour with slight berries, malt, very lactic, spoonful of brett, barnyard funk, hint of lemon, only light carbonation, very messy, I love it //// shared 75 cl. bottle with the brewer @ the brewery after praising this one – great very brewery & extremely friendly of him to give this to me but I must say that this has aged terribly incredibly fast – Alvinne sours appear to have the tendency to go downhill extremely fast (very odd quality for a sour, haven’t encountered it anywhere else before) – this was already begging to develop a decaying, wet moss & moist earth in the background, it tasted like it had began rotting, it is weird way to put it given that this is a sour but it is difficult to put it in any other way – extremely unfortunate because when I tasted it younger, long before the brewer actually intended it to be drank, it was pretty damn impressive /// rating obviously for “fresher” version – “older” one – 3.4

Tap at the Craft Beer Co., London. Pours a murky, red-brown with a foamy, off-white head. This is a pretty funky beer overall. Lots of sourness, some sweet cherry and berry notes. Bit of vinegar and wood. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Crisp, tart finish, dark malts, hints of alcohol, some funk. Interesting stuff, pretty good.

Cask @ Craft Beer and Co., London. RBESG 2011. Pours amber with a red hew. Strawberries, lacto, brett and acetone, barnyard and almond. Heavy - not too keen on the almond thing.

Nearly no head, but still lacerings over very dark ruby-brown beer. Vinous notes, jumping out of the glass by miles; old fruit, forgotten brandy casks with fruit. Sharp vinous flavour with some walnutpeel touches, if not very bitter, but indeed woody. Alcohol very present (even fusels) in the finish. Warming up, the fruit/esters come out more strong. Rather well-bodied, very slick, alcoholwarming. Very fruity, vinous, nearly tart rich beer - excellent. Lucky couple!

Keg at Craft Beer Co., RBESG 2011. Funky nose of chocolate and cherries. Reddish black with a fine, low head. Flavor of spoiled milk, cherry, yogurt, vanilla. Strange, interesting flavors with a nice sourness. First sip almost made me gag but it grew on me.
