A full flavored Pale Ale, having a predominantly fruity palate with malt overtones, a subtle hop character gives this Pale Ale a delicate overall palate, making a very drinkable beer.

Clear amber. Small head with uneven bubbles. Soma aroma of dark caramel. Taste is balanced by moderate use of hops. Dried berries in taste. Refined taste and good drinkability, although it is probably better from cask.

Bottle from Tescos. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is treacle, caramel malt. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet with a smooth malt, hop bitter, woody, slightly watery palate and a short bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very drinkable and perfect for a session.

Bouteille 50cl, curieusement passée de date, BB 06/10/2010, thank to my neigbhors.

500 ml bottle, shared by a neighbour. ABV is 6.0%. Copper colour, moderate white head. Pleasant malty aroma and flavour with fruitcake, stewed fruits and some caramel. The hops are moderate, but nicely balanced. A typical English ESB / strong pale ale, much to my liking.

500ml 20 year old 1996 ’vintage’ @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, courtesy of blackhaddock. Pours deep mahogany, character presents swirling barley wine toffee and tired dark fruits. Lacks life and probably past it’s best. Not changing the rating from before tho. 500ml bottle found in the back of the cupboard, have no idea where it came from. Full malts, grassy, hoppy bitterness, some citrus. Ok, but something didn’t quite sit right with me, although it was a bit warm when I drank it.

Small offwhite head. Clear amber body. Earthy caramelly aroma with spicy funky notes. Dry-sweet wooden caramelly spicy taste with earthy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy spicy caramelly aftertaste with wooden sugary cocos notes. It’s ok, but could use more depth of flavour. (0.5l bottle, from co-op, Whitby.)
