Sample at Palace Hall, Malmö December tasting (14/12/2024) - light citrus fruity and doughy sweet bready malty aroma and taste, grass, lightly singed straw and hay, yeasty note, sweet malty finish.

Ne vous emballez pas, cette De Ryck n'a rien de spéciale du tout.... Et c'est plutôt une bière plate, sans variation qui nous est proposée. Le visuel est sur un ambré limpide parcouru par de grosses bulles peu nombreuses et une mousse blanc cassé ne recouvrant pas toute la surface. Le nez est typique d'une ambrée, peu passionnant sur le caramel, la cassonade, les céréales et de légères épices. En bouche, c'est identique avec une légère amertume qui essaye de compenser un sucre trop présent et une légère acidité qui réveille un peu les papilles. LA corpulence est moyenne et le final très court pour une bière qui s'oubliera vite....

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a shaker. Colour slightly hazy pale amber, good moussy off-white head, slowly dissipating, light lacing. Aroma sweet malt, yeast, caramel, bread, hay. Smooth taste, medium sweet and light bitter, malty, yeast, light caramel, herbal notes. Light to medium body, watery to oily texture, lively carbonation, mild sweetbitter aftertaste, malty notes, light metallic notes, decent.

Bottle (well past sell by date) from Craft Beer Oasis, Crewe. Pours a cloudy dark golden amber with fair sized (but transient) off-white head. Has a distinctive aroma of malts, nuts, toast, and a musty yeastiness. (Not sure if attractive or not). In the mouth it is creamy and slightly sharp. Main initial flavour is marmalade plus dried apricots and honey. After a while it gets fruitier with oranges and pineapple prominent, plus hints of spices. Finish is slightly bitter. Decent – a bit run of the mill for a Belgian pale.
