La question que je me posais en dégustant cet Exceptionel fut pourquoi faire un Eisbock IPA si c'est, in fine, pour avoir la sensation de boire une Imperial IPA? Le point positif, allez-vous me dire, c'est que l'alcool, à 13 % ne dénature pas l'IPA. Et en effet, le sucre permet de bien contrebalancer l'alcool, qui in fine ne fait absolument pas ses 13 % sans trop se faire ressentir. L'amertume est quant à elle modérément poussée tout en restant attrayante. Bref, j'ai du mal à comprendre, on pousse l'alcool mais on ne veut pas qu'il soit présent et la concentration aromatique n'est pas si extraordinaire que cela. Le visuel est sur un orangé légèrement voilé avec une fine effervescence peu soutenue quasiment sans mousse. Le nez est plutôt agréable sur l'orange amère, le pamplemousse, le kumquat, le caramel et une pointe herbacée. On retrouve ces arômes en bouche sans de grosses variations mais avec une présence et une longueur intéressante. La texture, légèrement épaisse est également intéressante. Il me manque cependant de la puissance pour réellement être en présence d'un Eisbock.

Can. Malty and hoppy aroma and taste, caramel, light citrus fruit and resin, alcohol, light sweet, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty and hoppy bitter finish. Ok.

Can picked up from a Dutch brewery website (forgot which one) and consumed at Jude and Bazs listening to Patrice Bäumel - Speicher 89, we had Feta, Tomato and Gnocchi tray bake, Thursday 14th October 2021. Pours hazy warm orange, copper colour with an off-white head. Wow this is fab', thick honey, syrup moutheel, bitter and sweet play off each other wonderfully. Great deep sweet orange flavours. Love this beer.

Roodbruin helder bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitterzoet, kruidig en krachtig met iets van mango, wat zwarte thee en pruimen. Heel goed.

Can from Gall & Gall, Haarlem. Clear amber, thinning, off-white head. Aroma of ripe plum, apricot, mango, candied orange peel, triple sec, biscuit, liqueur-soaked cakes. Taste has sweet mango, candied orange & plum in a biscuity malt body, touch of honey; some bitter citrus peel & vague hint of pine in the middle. Rather harsh resinous bitterness in the finish clashing with the 'soaked' sweetness of overripe fruit. Hefty liqueur-like alcohol too. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. It had potential but in the end it doesn't work for me. All over the place, sadly.

Exact wat je verwacht. Een soort hop forward barleywine. Naar de tering en daar voorbij. Maar dan wel met hop ipv alleen maar suiker en alcohol. Maar nog steeds veel suiker en alcohol.
