An imperial stout — a classic style so rich and flavorful that it was once the private beverage of Russian Czars. The profile is malty sweet, hop bitter roasted, full-bodied, alcoholic and deliciously complex. Beer doesn’t get much more intense than this!

Draught @ the Valley Stream location (Oct 2023). Dark brown with faint red highlights, foamy dark beige head, toasted malt aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter toasted malt taste, like coffee latte, smooth body, long medium bitter finish. Very smooth and quite tasty.

Draft at BJ's in Livonia. Pours a dark brown to black with almost no head. Dark, sweet malt aromas. Palate is similar. A bit sweet with a malt extract thing going on. Didn't enjoy this one.

Tried on NYE 2019 at BJ's Montebello, our go to when we shop at the Mall. Not the first time I tried this - that was probably in 2001. Pours a clear(ish) dark brown colour and a creamy beige head with good retention. Aroma's: sweetish, mocha, roasted. Retronasal: sweetish, coffee, roasted, bitterish. Flavour is moderate sweet'n'bitter. Medium bodied. Creamy mouthfeel (it was on nitro). Long finish, moderate roasty bitter. Like almost all of BJ's beers: decent, but nothing spectacular.

[On tap at the Brea location; a dark, almost opaque, tawny coloured pour with a tight beige cap; aroma of chocolate and coffee; rich body with lots of bitterness from over roasted grains and very obvious alcohol. Lacking subtlety.

Pours black, small white head. Smell is weak, mild roast. Taste is medium weak, mild roast, bit coffee. Weak, especially for the style and ABV. lower side of body thickness, medium carbo. Served way to cold ( just like any other beers we had at BJ's ) . They describe it themselves as ' beer can't get much more intense than this' which makes me wonder if they've ever even drank any imperial stout :/

Heavy notes of dark chocolate, molasses, raisin, and anise, with a shockingly prominent booziness on the back end. So close to being a good beer, but the pure alcohol astringency on the back end is pretty unforgivable.
