Once the dock-hands, porters and longshoremen loved to indulge in the darkest and strongest beer available - stout. This beer is inspired by labor - an all in oatmeal stout with a silky mouthfeel and distinct roasted malt taste.

Opaque dark brown with a ruby hue against the light, small but steady creamy tan head with yeast circles, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits, some alcohol. Taste light heavy to medium sweet and medium malt bitterness, roast, dark chocolate, espresso, in the middle caramel notes, grainy backbone all the way. Medium body, creamy texture, smooth mouthfeel, average carbonation, lingering dry roasted sweetbitter aftertaste, light fruity (black currant), alcohol notes. Round , robust and good.

0,5l bottle from Pie Karlīnes, dāvanu veikals, Cesis, Latvia. Correct alcohol content nowadays is 8.5%, not 7.2%. The bottle tells 8.5% and also Labietis web pages tells the same information: https://www.labietis.lv/en/our-beers/legendary-ferryman-of-riga . Almost black beer pours hugely with nice and stable head. Aroma has coffee, roasted malts, cocoa and milky oats. Flavor has roasted malts, coffee, hints of caramel, vanilla and some smoke. A bit metallic touch also. Medium+ body, very soft and smooth, easy to drink. Nice one!

Smell - weak, some roast, chocolate, dark coffee, interesting. Foam - medium to thick side, some roast notes to sides of tongue, gets huge in mouth. Generally large, coffee medium dark brown color. Appearance - very dark brown, almost cant see through. Taste - dark chocolate, roast, chocolate bitterness, some caramel sweetness, not bad.
