Poli-keg at Prince Arthur, Fleet. Sweet apple peel aroma. Palest gold. Light-medium sweet. Some vague sourness. Thin. Light but sticky. Flat carbonation. Long finish. Didn't do much for me.

Box @ JDW Shrewsbury Hotel. Pours very pale clear yellow. Sweet apple fruit on the nose. Gripping pure fruit juice in character, moderately sweet, generally clean with a welcome tang. Light bodied. Not bad.

Keg @ White Lion, Heptonstall. Deep gold in colour. Fairly dry with the apple evident but understated in taste, although lingers for a while. Good nose.

[Polypin at the Three Crowns, Chippenham] Clear with slight greenish-gold hints - one of the palest ciders Iโve ever seen. Aroma of meths and nail varnish remover. Tastes overwhelmingly sweet, thereโs a hint of unripe aplles in there but there must have been a load of sugar added, surely - this is like syrup solution. Evident alcohol - this is probably favoured by tramps. Tellingly, on my drunkenly scrawled notes the words "this will make you ill" have subsequently been amended to "this will make you dead"!

From a polycask at the Portcullis, Clifton, Bristol 23/01/10. Pale, almost colourless, green in colour. Sweet apple juice with plenty of sugar. The alcohol was very well hidden, which could make this dangerous, if forgettable drinking.
