Vegan Friendly Slaughterhouse Stout… Vanatblack and bone char intones dwell within this remnant hulk… an electro narcosis of peat smoke pitch, dark cocoa and oiled black cardamom, rib rattle into subtle bolt gusts of port wine and espresso pursued by a dark cherry red grape skin tartness.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Black with next to no head. Boozy in both aroma and taste, but its added spices are of note and its aftertaste is dominated by a peat inspired smokiness.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Roasty, minimally smoky, dark malty and spicy aroma, notes of liquorice pastille, cardamom capsule, a peppery touch of chipotle. Taste is roasty, minimally smoky, dark malty, spicy, notes of liquorice, caradamom. Slightly oily texture, dry, fresh palate, medium, slightly prickly carbonation. Very fresh due to the cardamom, a bit restricted overall - OK.

Tap at Clove Hitch. Aroma is ham, light smoke. Roast, some malty sweetness. Taste is very nice, initially meaty, smoky, but in the middle there's some caramel and chocolate. Finish is back to the meat and smoke. Texture is slick.

Bottle from Inn At Home, Guildford. Positively pungent aroma - berries, tar, liqourice, peat. Glossy but thin in appearance, a cola brown pour. The beige head just rings the rim. Medium bitter with a sour berry edge. Coffee, charcoal, liquorice, tar and a ton of berries. Medium bodied. Creamy. Fizzy carbonation. Long finish providing a boozy warmth. A sipper. It delivers on what the aroma promises. Heavy hitter, wouldn't crack open a second.

Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Appearance - deep opaque black with a lovely hot chocolate head. Nose - dark chocolate, light smoke. Black cardamon. Taste - smoke and chocolate again. Creamy chocolate. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy texture. Dry smoky and creamy end. Overall - good. May have been expecting a bit more, mind.

Shared bottle at True North Bar, Stavanger, with OGJ and KH 29.12.17. Black. Brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, tar, creosote. Similar taste, with some dark berries. Pine bitterness and tar is lingering on.
