Pours a clear pale golden colour with a very small thin white head. Aroma is a sweet fruity citrus, mandarin and some light malt. A buttery sweet taste, sweet citrus and light malt flavours. A bit watery with a moderate but latent bitterness in the finish.

0.1 l on tap (keg) at ’The Shakespeare’ (Herdecke) at 4.5% abv. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, fruity and a bit malty aroma of hay, pear and some honey. Sweetish, slightly grassy and a bit fruity taste of lemon, hay, crackers, honey, pear and apples, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little grassy finish. Almost medium-bodied, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

Cask at the Labour in Vain, Oldswinford. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is grapefruit juice. Taste has straw to start and a light citrus finish. But of a surprise, really.

On tap at White Horse. Pours a cloudy gold that settles down quickly. Lots of British hops and a little grassiness and elderflower. Very pleasant golden ale for a hot summers day in a beer garden.

On tap at The Golden Grove, Chertsey. I’d avoided this previously as I thought it would be another boring golden ale and, as my ratings show, it’s often all that’s available in pubs around here. Aroma non existent. Gold, almost but not quite verging on hazy. A whisp of bright white head. Had far more flavour to it than I expected - sour citrus, surprisingly so. Light bodied, no carbonation. More to it than I expected from larger brewer’s gold take on an existing beer.
