Draught at the Jeffrey, 1/1/17.
Dark, inky, mahogany-ebony of indeterminable clarity. Tan head atop is small and slowly recedes to ring.
Very light bourbon character in the nose gives way to caramel, soft, luxurious vanilla and tons of elegant, easygoing, fruity, roasty espresso. The chocolate character never comes off too bitter/astringent or overly fudgey and the beer is nicely under control with the alcohol, being at a reasonable 9.2% abv. I’ll never understand why brewers feel the need to make Imperial Stouts higher than this. That’s plenty high...
Milk chocolate, light cocoa, more highly enjoyable espresso roast with hints of plum, prune, raisin and fruity, rich coffee. Low but tight carbonation and a sticky, chewy texture that is appropriately attenuated and on the dry side while still being balanced. Really, really nice stuff. Low on the bourbon, not boozy and not syrupy or too sweet.

Draft at the brewery. 2016 version, missed out on the bottles. Pours a dark brown with some lighter, streaky lacework. Heavy bourbon, booze, and vanilla. Bit of roasted malt. Light chocolate. Boozy and fairly bitter, not much sweetness to be found. Smooth feel, softer carbonation. Full bodied. Boozy feel. Really good, but at the same time, I'm glad to only have a small sample.

Draft Extreme Beer Fest 2016. Pitch black color, dark as the abyss. Awesome aromas of burnt espresso bean, cocoa nibs, vanilla hints, mild oak bourbon .

Flavor is a cocoa nibs, brownie batter like quality with moderate amounts of espresso bean. Mouthfeel is great, full body, creamy texture with a slow bourbon burn after the swallow. Belly warming. Light bitter chocolate or coffee to help the bourbon balance this beast. Very nice

Draught @ Hops Hill. Inky black with small foamy tan head, mocha and faint whisky aroma, low carbonation, sweetish mocha taste with the noticeable addition of bourbon, thin body, medium finish with bourbon aftertaste. Quite smooth despite the high alcohol.
