Deep sanguine body, thin clumping tan head. Aroma of grapes, toast, and earthy hops. Body is richer than expected with toast, red wine, graham cracker, figs and cigar smoke. Plenty of tannins. Good beer!

2004 bottle. Pours a dark black with beige swirls. Looks roasty and caramelly. Good beige head. Aroma of oily roast, maybe a hint of brown sugar and some lightly bitter hops. Flavor is big and spicy with plenty of roastiness throughout and climaxing at the finish. It almost seems like it’s a bit too much with the roast. Light sugars arise as it warms. A strange bitter almost old yeast flavor towards the end as well. The flavor was certainly unique and not altogether pulled together, but though I could get around that, I couldnt forgive the huge amount of artificial carbonation that seemed to sting the palate and break up the flavors.

Dark amber/brown color, no real head but moderate lacing - aroma of nuts and caramel - interesting balance of slight smoke and medium sweet malt flavors, some fruit and toffee - something about this tastes homebrewed, some might find that charming, I do not - if I want homebrew I’ll drink homebrew - otherwise good, though - decent, mild hop finish, with lingering caramel.

This pours into the glass with an adequate head and a deep garnet color. It has a malty caramel nose and on the tongue it goes like a lagered Porter. There's an easy drinking beer here.

Pours a dark ruby-brown with a thin light tan head. Very thin and quick lacing. Aroma of coffee along with a bit of chocolate. Medium body as well. This beer is a little sharp on the front buy mellows a bit later on. There is a blend of sweet malt, caramel, coffee and some hops in the flavor, but none in abundance. The finish is mildly bitter. Overall this beer seems kind of lackluster.

I like it, but the traditional Munich darks I've tried had much more character and depth. This one bordered on being overhopped.
