Rich in fruitcake aromas, almonds and conserved fruit. Adnams Broadside is a pint to savour. The deep copper colour, the fuller flavour and the premium ABV rewards the drinker in every mouthful.

Cask at the Boat Inn, Stoke Breune, Northants. Poured a darker brown that I expected, some sulphur on the nose along with some dried fruits, taste was also fruitier than I anticipated and pleasantly malty with some hops but a bit safe and not a patch on its bottled stablemate.

Pint served in an original tall Adnams glass. Nice dense head over a rusty brown body. Slightly malty to the nose. Smooth with light bitterness and some caramel in a rather weak taste. Very standard beer (in perfect temperature at Pakenham Arms, London 14.09.2006).

Cask: Sweet-malty-almost toasted- and fruity aroma, with a distinctive hop-bitterness; full bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; long, bitter-malty-fruity finish. A rich, well rounded beer.............

Cask at Yew & Ewe, Brookland, kent One of my favourite premium english bitters. Good strong malty fruit flavours and then a kick of hops. I like the fact that it gets me drunk faster than the usual session beers I go for.

(On tap) Clear, dark amber colour with a very small head. Lightly malty nose. Has a roasted malty character and a very smooth, aromatic hoppiness without any real bitterness. 250605
