The fermentation process is not halted early, but rather the beer is allowed to fully mature. Only afterwards is the alcohol removed by means of a process developed with the Technical University of Munich-Weihenstephan, the same one used for our non-alcoholic wheat beer.

500ml bottle. Pours clear gold with a small white head. Aroma is grain, sweet malt, and a touch of butter. Taste is light sweet, spicy hop, bread, and grain. Light bitter finish. Good. Reminds me of a regional lager from one of the former Soviet countries.

Pours deep hazy gold into a shaker. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Meadow and malt aromas. Dry with lavender and lilac upfront turning to dry hay and meadow grass in the medium length finish.

0.5 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop' as 'Weihenstephaner Original Helles Alkoholfrei', best before June 2019. Clear, golden with a medium large, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly grassy-spicy aroma of grains, some wort and traces of straw. Moderately sweet, minimally bitter, a little watery, minimally grassy-spicy taste of grains and some wort with hints of straw, followed by a short, minimally bitter, moderately dry, quite watery and just a little grassy-spicy finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Drinkable but very bland.

14-04-15 // bottle from Cellar, Errol Street, Melbourne. Bit watery but easy to drink. There are better ones without alcohol.

Draught @ a Greek restaurant in Hamburg. Pours clear golden with airy but stable white head. Clear aroma of yeast, malt and unfermented grain. Sweetish, estery flavour with notes of raw malt and sourish, bready touches. Sweetish aftertaste. Not bad for a Low Alc, but I have tasted better beers of this style, too.
