Freiburgs Erstes IPA - Dolly ist das schwarze Schaf unter den heimischen Bieren. Viel Malz und viel exotischer hopfen wurden von uns zu einer wahren geschmacksexplosion gebraut. An IPA so good it can't be cloned.

Smell of hops, grain. Deep golden colour, high cream-coloured head. Strong aroma of hops, also grapefruit, some spruce. Medium sweet, also bitter. Oily texture, rich body. Very flat carbon. Very nicely balanced.

Thnx to a yet to be discovered friendly germqn ratebeerian . Pours clear orange small white head . Smell gives the idea of citra , very fruity and balanced . Taste is bitter , hoppy , aromatic and fruity . Bit sweet . Very elegant . Nice stuff ! This is from germany ? Im amazed and stand corrected on previous opinions i had about Germany !

Clear orange beer, thick creamy yellowish head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, bit sugary, floral hops, ripe summer fruits, little piny, resinous touch, strawberry jam, sweet caramel malts. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sweet start, citrus, malty, bitter hops, bit resinous, some orange peel. Aftertaste: malty, bitter touch, nice fruitiness, sweet peaches, pineapple. This is pretty well done!

330ml bottle [imagined to be the highlight of a locals for locals-trade with bartlebier - thank you very much again, FlemishRAtebeeriaNKingpin]. Slightly cloudy, orangey golden colour with average to huge, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Piney and citrusy hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, passion fruit, orange, tangerine, pineapple, peach, even some liquorice, caramel malty basis with orange biscuit touch. Taste is piney and bitter hoppy, notes of grapefruit and orange, orange zest, minimally astringent, moderately sweet malty background. Indistinguishable from some of the best rated West Coast American IPAs known to me (maybe exempt from minor deficiencies concerning outwardness), and exactly for that reason too clean, adjusted and sophisticated for my personal taste, like e.g. Bear Republic’s ’Racer 5’. Nevertheless an applaudable piece of craftsmanship rarely to be found in Germany.
