The aroma is a blend of fresh grassy and floral hop and a subtly soft, caramel-tinged maltiness. The palate is a balance of gentle grainy maltiness and sprightly floral, citrusy fresh hop fruitiness. The finish is bittersweet with hints of citrus fruit weaving in and out.

Cask at the Spoons on Gracechurch. Deep golden colour in the glass and a real richness of flavour and mouthfeel. It was in perfect condition and I forgot how good this can be.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Can’t believe I’ve not rated this before – I’ve been drinking it since December 1994 ! My first drink of this is indelibly etched in my memory – I wrote a monologue about it. Anyway, pours a golden orange with a fair-sized foamy white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma – just some malts. Nicely balanced with the sweetness of malts offset by bitter marmalade and oranges. Summer fruits and hints of aniseed can also be detected. Finish is slightly sulphurous. Still a good session beer, but not the eye-opener it once was.

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Went on numerous golf weekends where this was the one non-lager option.

Vom Fass im The Suncliff Hotel in Bournemouth/UK 2018-08 getrunken. Neben dem Hopfenaroma findet man bei diesem Golden Ale nichts besonders.

Handpull cask at the Old Horse, Leicester. Mid- to dark gold and clear with a tight white head. Raw grain and honeys malt in the aroma. Sweet taste with a spiciness from the malt and a good dollop of cheap honey. It's a standard malt-led cask golden but none the less enjoyable for that. If you're looking for a beer to change your life, move on, but this is reasonably solid.
