Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels
The economy fluctuates. The latest fads inevitably decline. Black Tuesday stands the test of time. Our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout brings a seemingly roaring combination of flavors - vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate and singed oak, to name a few - into a decadent, sophisticated fusion that’s fit to claim its own day of the week. And it only comes around once a year.

Bottle, shared at a tasting in Tokyo on 1/8/17. 2016 issue. Color is very dark, but not quite black/opaque. Off white head, not much. Aroma’s: berries, sweetish, alcohol, whiskey. Retronasal it’s sweetish, alcohol, molasses. Flavor is moderate to full sweet, alcohol. Strong alcohol feel obviously, but not overly so. Medium to full bodied (I would have expected it to be syruppy, but no). Finishes with some roast and some bitterness. Didn’t quite live up to the expectations, but I heard this issue is not the best. Hopefully my 2012 and 2014 bottles are better.
