Phat Mongrel’s older, inappropriate uncle. BIGGER bodied, more bitter with extra Mongrel.
Black and viscous like sump oil, the nitro charge gives the appearance of a blown head gasket.
Bangs of dark roasted malt goodness. Coffee, cacao and slightly burnt. Rounded out with the early fruit spice.
Voluptuously full bodied. Mouth coating sweetness balanced with 100 IBU’s and a boozy warming sensation.

Can from Henrik. Pitch black, quite viscous, with beige head. Loads of rye bread, soy sauce, some vanilla. Some coffee. Somewhat heavily roasted.

Can at Gavel Coffee and Kitchen, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, liqouirce, caramel, charcoal, light boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, liqouirce bitter with a roasty, slightly oily, boozy, liqouirce, light red berry fruits, light dry coffee palate. Medium medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

From a 375ml can on 26/7/2018. Pours near black with small tan head. The nose is roasted malt, soy, and some chocolate. The flavour is big and complex - milk and dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, ash and soy. The bitterness is big with the 100IBU being no surprise. The finish is very dry,and almost charred. The body is creamy and the carbonation moderate. I'm a big fan of Fox Hat and Phat Mongrel is one of the most impressive stouts I've come across. I was ready to be blown away by an imperial version, but I'm just a shade disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this is a fine beer and an enjoyable impy. But I'd say that Phat is a more complete beer when the style is considered. But still well worth a try.

Huge thanks Emir!! Ruby-tinged almost black body, creamy brownish tan head. Perfumey, lovely full malty aroma, coffee, caramel. Coffee, roast, bitter on a soft, but still roasty maltiness, bit herbal and black-malt-tart. Dry and bitter in the finish. Interesting, daring, cool, but not the best around.
