Albert. Able. Gordo. Miss Baker. Bonny. Goliath. Between 1948 and 1961 these primate pioneers and others bravely went where no man had ever gone before, paving the way for manned U.S. spaceflight. This hoppy little monkey of a beer is a tribute to those Simian heroes of yesteryear. It has a citrusy, floral hop aroma, a strong malt body, and a crisp finish.

Can. Orange juice, malt , and orange peel/pine aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with nice off-white head. Sweet candied sugar/orange toffee malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel/quinine flavor. Good body. A bit rough. Here’s to Sam and Ham plus Albert II - the first primate in space.

Can: Clear amber with a thick beige head. Woody caramel, orange and pine aroma. Taste is earthy....caramel malt, breadheel, fruit, a little peppery. Tasty, though not very hoppy.

Can. Cloudy amber body. Fizzy white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of toasted grain, pine, resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Big caramel malts in the taste. Thicker body than usual for an ipa.

Dark golden in the glass. Fresh and very floral in the nose. The beer starts smooth, very floral and slightly sweet. The aftertaste is smooth, nicely floral hopped and not too sweet. Nicely bitter. A great IPA! --> 13/12/12/12

12 ounce can courtesy of Suttree. Thanks! Pours a hazy copper with a large creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toffee malts with some floral, herbal hops. The taste is herbal, earthy hops with dry toffee malts. Medium bodied. A little muddled, but solid.

12 ounce can courtesy of Suttree. Canned on 02/07/2013. The pour is a hazed orange copper with an inch and a half light tan head. The aroma is orange citrus hops, a bit of floral and a nice toasty malt. The taste is the orange resin hop along with the toasted malt, nice balance between the two flavors, though the taste was not quite as bright as the aroma. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and a dry resin finish. Would love to try this fresh on draft - the hops were great in the nose, though lacked some pop in the flavor.
