Black as a Ninja’s robe, an Origami of flavours unfold. Floral jasmine and sweet cranberries are layered over the indulgent big sour stout beneath. Poached prunes, deep notes of raisin and roasty chocolate flavours compete with the seismic sourness. Finishes with the complex malt and alcohol warmth expected of Tokyo. Jasmine creeps back again as mouth-watering acidity plays out.

(Bottle) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of prunes, red berries, cherries, dark bread, chocolate, liquorice, oak wood and a touch of vinegar. Malty, fruity, tart taste with prunes, cranberries, cherries, dark bread, orange, chocolate, liquorice, oak wood, vinegar and a mild roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tart, fruity, chocolatey, complex. Very nice.

Review #750, so let's hope for a special one. Dark brown (tint of red) pour with a small tan head. Aromas of dried red berries and other fruits before the whisky kicks in; hints of cocoa and malt. Taste is redcurrants, sour cherries, whisky, wood, pleasat sour finish. Enjoyed it.

Bottle. Black body under a small tan head. Nice aroma of dark malt, dry fruit, dark berries, ripe cherry, wood, acid, alcohol and a hint of acetone. Taste has a fine balance between sweet malt, dry fruit and acidity, lots of dry fruit, quite acidic, complex with chocolate, raisins, cherry, wood, mild whisky, some acetone and balanced bitterness. Well balanced body and long lasting aftertaste. Very nice indeed.

On tap at Brewdog - Merchant City (Glasgow), pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of toffee upfront, raisins, and cranberry. Flavour is rather sour, with toffee, tart dark fruits, and and raisins. Rich and balanced. Tasty.

Black beer, thin head. Malty chocolate aroma with sharp fruit. Flavour follows suit. Chocolate, sharp citrus, quite tart actually, but the balance of rich chocolate and light sour fruit is great.

Tokyo stout gets lower abv when in barrels? Weird. Enjoyed this sour stout though. Cherries, chocolate, tangy. Nice. It wer dark.

Bottle, smallish head, opaque black colour, aroma of prunes, dark bread, vanilla oakiness and some umami, flavor of prunes and raisins with a bit of chocolate behind, quite sweet but with a mellow sourness balancing really nicely. Highly enjoyable.
