Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Well, it seems like this beer has been put on out of season - this is definitely not the golden ale. The beer pours clear, shiny russet with a foamy-bubbly white head. The nose is semi-ripe berries, doughy toast and light dirt. Light sweet flavor with faintly toasted, doughy malts, lightly tangy berries, hints of dark and ripe orange, some mild leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Light sweet on the finish with just a nip of dryness, mild leafy bitterness, very subtle earth, some more berries, some toasted dough. It’s a very classic bitter. While I wouldn’t say the beer is outstanding in any way, it does tick all the boxes that it should.

Light malty aroma, some pleasant fruitiness in the taste, but not the best aftertaste.

Cask-conditioned at the Lord Moon of the Mall (JDW), London 11/02/10. Pale amber in colour with a slight white head. I got the biscuit malts too, along with plenty of fruit and a slight spicy, hoppy finish. Very good.
