Hand-pulled cask ale, half pint, shared with Finn. A bubbly, beige head leaving fragile lacing behind, black in the glass. Roasted malty depth on the nose, hints of chocolate. Cocoa-chocolate taste supported by moments of toffee, distant notes of dark fruits. Ends with a roasted chocolate malty twist, semi sweet. Pretty nice.

(First session, 44th Liverpool Beer Festival, Metropolitan Cathedral Crypt, 13.02.2025).

440ml can from Everyman's, Shrewsbury. As before. Quite a mild flavour profile. August 9th 2022: Cask @ Bridge Street Ale House, Newcastle Under Lyme. Pours dark, small tan head. Light whiff of choc. Taste brings pleasant chocolate fudge notes, though quite mild overall. One of the better beers this evening.

Cask at the Fat Cat, Sheffield. Poured a clear black colour with a lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is chocolate, fudge, caramel. The flavour is liqourice bitter, with a smooth, roasty, smoky, strong liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Looks great, smells awesome, tastes poor.

Cask at Hops, Crewe Pours just about black with a small beige head. A strong nose of all things chocolatey, including fudge and coffee grounds. Fudge and chocolate again dominating in the mouth, but also some fruit and biscuit flavours. Texture is sweet juicy, with a malty finish. Dangerously drinkable.

Keg (Cask also available). Black with thin head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of caramel and vanilla. Light milk chocolate in the finish. Misses some body and depth of flavour but the overall taste is good.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Very dark brown. Not a lot of light getting through. A creamy beige/tan head. The aroma, well, it's like sniffing a fudgsicle. Lots and lots of chocolate fudge. Sweet taste with a hoppy bitterness mid-sip and some sourness in the finish. Flat, watery body. Decent but I've had better from this outfit.
