Cask-conditioned at the Berkeley (JDW), Bristol 30 October 2023. Dark amber in colour with a slight, off-white, head. Caramel, leafy hops some hedgerow fruitiness, chewy malts and a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Sample at GBBF Winter. Dark, clear amber, thin silky head. Malty aroma, sweet, bready. Malts get tannic in the taste, dry, woody. Sweetness disappears.

Cask at the Pump House, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a clear chestnut brown colour with an everlasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is malt, big yeast. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a big yeasty, floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Pretty awful but I think this is more down to Wetherspoons than the brewery.

Clear, copper colored, medium doapy non lasting beige head. Aroma is some malt, biscuit, light caramel, some fruity estery notes and light earthy hops. Taste is medium sweet malt, bit of caramel and biscuit, fruity apple rind esters, medium bitterness, some light earthy hops, dry dry finish and lasting bitter aftertaste. Medium- bodied, soft to flat carbonation, bit oily.

19th June 2016: half-pint in my local Wetherspoons. Looked good, rich amber bodied with a strong toffee aroma and taste, really liked it: my sweet tooth loving the flavour.

On cask in London. Smooth malty beginning. Round and malty with a nice bitter-ale aroma over the malty part. Smooth and fresh in the mainpart, smooth, mild malty and moderate bitter in the aftertaste.

Cask at The Metropolitan (W’Spoons), Baker Street, London. A dark red/brown coloured pour with a thin white head on top. Malty, caramel, fruity aroma. Tastes similar, malty, fruity, caramel. Rather pleasant.
