Saison du Blé is the harmony of a fluffy Wheat Saison and a traditional, rustic Saison with Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus. The wheat balances a very dry body with a creamy, billowy mouthfeel, and our house Saison yeast adds complexity and acidity.

10 Year, drunk 2/10/24. Strong gusher. But still clear brass. Small, white head. Stinky nose, very sulfur forward with big mineral, chardonnay and lots of soft wheat. Good body, lots of chardonnay but it's not too acidic or tannic. Still maintain that it's slight on the Sacch character. Kind of lost in the shuffle. The chardonnay and mineral is lovely though...

Batch #3 bottle, drunk Spring 2016. Lovely pour, as usual from SP, with a big, well-retained white head topping a minimally hazy, bright flaxen-golden body. Oak again, and wine, but it’s nowhere near the intense, overpowering levels of the previous batch. While I think the complexity of this one is still a bit suspect, overall, being heavily given to oak/wine/tannin, this is certainly still respectable and a far cry from the pure Chardonnay bomb that was batch 2.

Batch #2, 750mL bottle shared by AdamC on 7/24/15.
Lightly hazy golden body is topped by a moderate amount of white head that slowly recedes to cover. Smacked in the nose with chardonnay....perhaps smacked isn’t the right word, as I like chardonnay, and this is a fine example of it; not too buttery/oaky and with good acidity and juicy fruit notes. The flavor is a mouthful of chardonnay as well, albeit on a soft, tightly carbonated and lean body. Some lactic notes break through....almost no saison character....really grasping at straws to find much other than chardonnay here. Seems like the base beer must be nice, but there’s just no getting past the wine character here.

Aroma: nice farmhouse notes with some malty backbone and light sweetness.
Taste: along the same lines, crispy.

Sample during "Farm Fest 2025" on 07/05/2025. Clear yellow-gold color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing. Aroma of funky fruit, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of herbal yeast, vinous oak, malt and lemons. The finish is peppery yeast and tart fruit. Very good Saison overall.

Pretty tasty, lean, lightly drying, low funk, lemon peel, a little musty hay bales, low acidity. Goes down well.

Bottleshare at CBJ, thanks to Wingman for the bottle. Just a light haze on this paleish gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Airy palate, slightly soft, decent fine carbonation. A soft Geuzey fruit tartness, mellow. Airy finish. Tidy.
