Barrel aged, vinous, slightly sour quadruppel. Aged on a 4500l Massolino Barolo red wine foeder.
Barolo wine is made with the Nebbiolo grape. And the mountainous Langhe region where the Massolino winery is located, is often covered in mist, or nebbia in Italian, hence the name of the Beer "Nubbiol".
Made specifically in mind for fine dining, in collaboration with The Beer Engineers.

From tap at De Beugel, Arnhem. Vinous aroma with red wine, notes of brandy, grapes, red fruits. Complex, tart and sourish. Some sweetness as well. Above medium body. Great.

Draught Small, lightly yellowish head over hazy brownish red beer. Typical sourish Morpheus nose (it's really a stamp), vinous, red wine, yeast, winebarrels. Sour, chocolate with sour cherry ganache; sour cherries, hint at other grains, wholemeal brown bread; old aged wine. Alcoholwarming and acidburn. Quite slick, low carbonation. Another Alvinne winner.

1 March 2020. At Dok Brewing Company, with the lovely Anke. Hazy amber with a quickly thinning, off-white head. Aroma of redcurrant, plum, gooseberry, wet wood, sherry, red apple. Taste has sweetish red apple, toffee & plum going into a sour core of redcurrant, gooseberry, grapes, vague vinegar even, kept together by soft bready maltiness. Woody & herbal notes in the dryish, tart finish, quite a lot of bread retronasally as well as sour grapes; warming effect of red wine. Medium body, oily texture, flat carbonation. Alvinne's interpretation of a Quadrupel (just like Land van Mortagne) is probably a case of 'you love it or you hate it'. I definitely appreciate it.
