A slight tartness, with a pithy spiciness, that characterizes the old Franconian style of this beer with its unique character.

Bottle @ Mega Bavarian Beer Tasting in Schlitz. Clear, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Toasty grainy, caramel malty, a bit grassy, a touch fruity aroma. Tangy, light fruity, a bit citrusy, toasty, lightly nutty flavor. Not bad.

At Hütt’n, Nurnberg 9/07/2011. Amber in colour with a decent white head. Aroma of bready malts, hay and caramel with a slight herbal edge. Flavour had more sweet malts, with a hint of roastiness and dryish finish. Good.

Bottle from Markgrafen, Bamberg
Amber-chestnut color; small head. If the aroma, with light cereals and caramel, lets hope for something, the flavor disappoints, with a light caramel, weak body, dry mouthfeel, light vegetables feeling, medium-low bitterness.

Bottled (BB 12/2009).
Courtesy of oh6gdx, tnx. Clear amber color, medium-sized off-white head. Toasted sugar, malts and grass in the nose. Flavor has caramel malts (toasted sugar), grassy hops and some rye bread. Grassy aftertaste. This is not a dunkel styled beer, but a dark landbier.

Bottle, 5.5%. Caramelly aroma, slightly buttery. Not unpleasant, but a little strange. Clear brown colour, hint of grey. Very unstable head. The flavour is OK malty, not like a Dunkel, but somewhere in between that and a Helles. Low bitterness, but OK flavour. Seems a little boring at first, but after a while a subtle roasted nuttiness comes forward in the flavour.

Bright, brownish amber. Has a slightly earthy, crackerlike maltiness. Somewhat thin beer for the region. Light cracker notes, hints of cookies and brown sugar.
