Bottle 330ml @ Christianssand Brygghus
Pours dark brown/black with a beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, dried fruits, caramel, vinous, alcohol and wood. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a long warm, dried fruity, vinous and woody finish. Body is full, texture is oily to sticky, carbonation is soft.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, some dark malt character, a little mellow dark chocolate and a trace of coffee. Dominant flavours of rich ripe fruits come through in the mid and they are very nicely brightened by the white wine barrelling. There is Chardonnay like creamy grape here and a light sprinkle of vanilla oak. Finishes smooth with a light grapey tartness and the 14.5% finally shows its teeth with a little spice. Very nicely done. Drinking well now, I reckon this probably has another year in it. Delicious quad.

Bottle, backlog. Black body under a small beige head. Strong and nice aroma, dark malt, dry fruit, wood and warming alcohol. Taste is sweet and alcoholic, but in a really nice way, feels balanced and surprisingly smooth for this high alcohol level. Dark malt, dry fruit, caramel, chocolate, wood and vinous. Perfect body and aftertaste that seems to be forever. Very nice and tasty, a classic – even if I preferred Flotsam a little tad better.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Aroma of malts, oak, white wine, bourbon, vanilla and molasses. Rich mouthfeel and flavour. The vinous flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also notes of dark dried fruits and chocolate.

Etter 15 måneder med tålmodig venting var vi atter tilbake i trygge omgivelser på Cardinal for en kombinert sesongåpning og sesongslutt. Flere av deltakerne som ikke hadde sett hverandre siden mars i fjor benyttet anledningen til å ønske hverandre godt nyttår! Seremonimester Melberg styrte hele seansen med sedvanlig stødig hånd, og med denne gledessprederen fra NØ er vi på kveldens syvende fatøl: nesten helt svart med flott skum som varer. Portvinsvinøs, smud&fed, sviskeplommer, feite dessertchokolader. HMS (helse, miljø og sosial smøring) i sentrum!

Crowler, 440 ml shared with Max, Miro B and Kova. Dark brown with tan head. Chocolate, fruity, dried fruit, dark fruit, juicy, sweet, tad sour, jammy. Soft texture. Medium to full bodied. Very nice.
