Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a large off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly autumn fruits with some hoppy hints. In the mouth it is briefly sweet to start, but very quickly becomes bitter with malts, autumn fruits and barley sugar. Traditional hops too, but to a lesser extent. Finish is slightly dry. This is quite nice – but a little short on hops to be a top quality IPA.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a small off-white head. Nuts and floral hops in the aroma. Plenty of hops in the mouth as well, sort of midway between floral and citrus in style. Autumn fruits can be discerned as well, plus hints of pine and spices. Overall it varies between sweet and bitter. Finish is very dry. Think this should be classed as an IPA due to its strength and hoppiness. I’m undecided on this one as flavour is a bit strange – it could be a grower…

Cask at The Moon & Sixpence (Wetherspoons), Hatch End. A hazy golden/amber coloured pour with a small off white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, malty, caramel aroma and taste with a bitter finale. Decent pale ale and in top condition too.

Amber colour with thin head and light haze. Aroma and flavour have plenty of hop complexity. Floral notes. Earthy and piney too.

Bottle. Morrison’s. Hazed, orange gold. Thin, messy, clingy, white head. Nose has baked citrus. Flowery hop spice. Some pine needle. Ginger biscuit malt. Taste has an initial sweetness, and is then spicy, citrus bitter. Medium body. Some oiliness. Fine carbonation. Lingering spicy bitterness to finish. Cracking beer, especially at a quid and a half a pop.

Cask at the Falcon, HWY, Cotts convention 5 day, 08/06/19. Almost clear golden blonde with a lasting off white head. Nose is melon, tangerine, creamy malts, light breads. Taste comprises airy malts, orange peel, melon, soft breads, light mango sorbet. Medium bodied, soft carbonation .... great mouthfeel and conditon for an 0900 pour, light hop bitterness in the close. Decent cask pale.

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A pale amber pour with a tight cream head; grainy aroma; taste of sour grains, caramel and biscuit; then an acrid bitterness that becomes more fruity before a caramel finish. Rather good.
