Cask at Herbert Wells Spoons in Woking. Low key malty chocolate aroma. Dark brown. Creamy beige head. Light bitter. A hint of berry sourness but predominantly malty. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Abrupt finish. Serviceable mild.

Bottle from Booths, Keswick. Clear ruby/brown body with a thin beige head that holds well. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of raisin, wood and milk chocolate. Flavour of stewed tea and cigar. Thin body with a sticky mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Really tasty - I’m surprised it’s not been scored higher.

Cask at WHOAF 2015. It pours deep ruby with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, oily, sticky, boiled sweets, jammy berry, cola cubes, cola ice pole, fruit cake, wood, earth and plum skin. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, toasty, earthy, dried fruits, jammy berry, wood, sponge and a touch of charred wood with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth and easy-going. Decent depth for the style. Not too shabby.

Cask handpull at the Flying Pig, Cambridge. Mid- to dark brown with a reddish tinge. Woodsmoke, milky coffee, cinnamon and red currant aroma. Sweet taste with a slight bitter, almost astringent edge. A bit muddly but good overall.
