One Heck of a Journey

Created for the British Empire for a trek to the East, IPA was reinvented in the US and finally reborn back in Blighty.

Taste Notes: Yee-haw! Let's thank the Yanks for their bold, citrussy hops! With a blast of grapefruit and a hit of gooseberry, this beer rocks!

Can at home from Sainsbury's. A mostly clear golden orange coloured pour with a loose white head. Aroma is earthy citrus, sweaty hops, some chive, onion, amber malts, light eggy. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, character base malts, hint of orange rind, grassy hop, sweaty, nutty. Palate is semi sweet, light resin, moderate carbonation. passable.

330ml can: BB 17th Mar 2020. Opened at home on 20th June 2019, poured into a 'Good People' US Pint sleeve. Clear golden body, wispy white topping. Nose held some piney hop esters within a mild citrus lead, taste also hop forward with spruce and dry citrus fruits to the fore. Undertone of malty sweetness also comes through towards the finish. A very pleasant 'supermarket brew' all round.

Can of yet another boring IPA attempt, bit soapy, medium bitter, low on hoppy presence.

330ml can. Poured a slighty hazy light golden colour with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is malt, grassy citrus, light dry woody hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, light sweet, with a crisp, malt, light fruit, light pepper spice, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.
