Bottle courtesy of Virby44. 2019 vintage. Pours virtually black into the glass. The minimal brown head proves to be fleeting. Big maple syrup and vanilla aroma—very much the pancake house. Taste is moderate sweet with a bit of roasted chocolate bitterness at the end. Long, lingering maple syrup afterwards. Good balance with the sweetness, which is there, but is never cloying, and feels in harmony with the underlying beer. Heavy-bodied, slick, moderate to mild carbonation. Very pleasant sipping.

Bottle split at the Autumn Watford tasting, thanks to Leighton, 24/09/21. Black with a solid tan cap. Nose is big on maple syrup, dark fruit rinds, molasses, spice, charr, chocolate. Taste comprises more big maple effect, sweet malts, vanilla essence, chocolate pot, brown sugar melt. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light rising boost and mellow barrel tones. Solid.

Bottle shared in Watford - sourced via trade. Pours black-brown with a moderate, foamy beige head. Big sweet flavour, heavy on the maple, vanilla, soft roast and bitter cocoa, mild bourbon, raisins, marshmallows. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more smooth maple syrup, light bourbon, booze, raisins, burnt caramel. Very nicely rounded and drinkable pastry.
