The Emerald Necklace series tells a foundational piece of the Trillium Brewing story. If you’ve visited our home of Boston, you’ve likely encountered and enjoyed a section of the Emerald Necklace. Beginning downtown at the Boston Common and Public Garden, extending out to Back Bay, and all the way to Dorchester, this 1,100 acre, seven-mile-long public park system is a cherished green oasis in the heart of the city. Years ago, JC cultivated a plot in the Fenway Victory Gardens, where he grew edible and decorative plants, trees, and even some hop bines!

Named after Emerald Necklace architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Olmsted Park features a chain of fresh-water ponds and a dual-path system that residents and visitors to Brookline can enjoy year-round. The third release in the series highlights a pair of Southern Hemisphere hops, offering a vibrant and fresh drinking experience. Brewed with Galaxy and Nelson, Olmsted pours a glowing golden yellow with a soft and inviting haze. Flavors shift from tropical mango smoothie and pineapple juice to more citrus-forward orange pith and lemon zest notes throughout the course of each sip. Medium-bodied with a finish that never fatigues the palate, Olmsted is a true joy to drink.

473ml can. Murky, yellow-ish, bright golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, slowly osteoporosing,, minimally lacing, white head. Initially rather cautious, fruity, minimally pieny, hoppy aroma, oaty and wheaty malty background, hints of lemon, white grapes, some gooseberry, whiffs of grape sugar; later some more intensity, some peppery yeasty spiciness as well. Taste is oaty malty and mildly bitter, minimally tart-ish, fruity hoppy, hints of lemon and grapefruit, some gooseberry, white grapes, a touch of orange, lemon peel, orange peel, zesty bitterness; minimally peppery spicy, yeasty overtones in the finish.
Watery texture, slightly dry and somehow "crumbly" and even papery palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation.
Fairly drinkable, juicy, but somehow not the hop flavours that put you in real ecstasy - a bit underwhelming applying Trillium standards.

CD unknown. Pours a turbid yellow body and a firm, rocky white head with good retention. Aroma's of soft fruit, light citrus, dough, light dank. Retronasal: it's rather dank, but not in a very resinous way, and there's some stonefruit and citrus. Flavour is light moderate bitter with a touch of juicy sourness and ever so slightly sweet. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Finishes with dough and moderate bitterness.

Panda thanks to Cloin. A mild haze on this slightly dirty looking gold beer, decent bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thin pale malts, a modest sweetness. Dry piney hops into light and slightly ripe citrus. Ripe orange. Light and semi dry finish.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 16/10/24. Murky orange topped with a lasting white cap. Nose is ripe tropicana, lychee, bitter orange, raw pineapple, grapefruit. Taste comprises bitter tropical fruits, grass, pine nip, dank spike, grapefruit zest, touch of stone fruit, guava. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spliced with juicy come dankened hop bitterness. Solid IPA ... not getting a lot of Nelson mind!

Can. Beer Stop Dronfield. Murked up glowing gold. Whipped white foam. Looks the bees knees. Honestly didn’t know the hops here until after, but I’d guessed Nelson and Galaxy. Hark at me ffs. Great depth of flavour sits semi dry and nicely bitter. Creamy but not cloying. Punchy bitterness to finish. Class.

Sample at the roost is a murky, neon yellow with some wispy white head. Nose has lime and herbs, light tropicals. Flavors follow. This is fine but it's just a bit pedestrian.
