500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo, cheers!]. Slightly cloudy, dark amber to chestnut colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Slightly toasty malty aroma, hints of toffee, fruity hoppy overtones with hints of red berries. Taste is mellow malty, hints of toffee, cream, caramel, slightly bitter and minimally fruity, hoppy overtones with a touch of red berries.

Bottle from Bridlington Co-op. An amber brew with a thin white head and a rather prickly fizz at first, although this did ease off a bit. Nice rich malty smell. Taste is more malt and red fruits and fudge and just a hint of metal. Maybe just a tadge too sweet, but still good to have a traditional malty bitter, they seem all too rare these days. Enjoyed it.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - amber with some head. Nose - stewed apple, maybe some malt and butter. Taste - malt and butter, not much fruit. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry finish which isn’t necessarily that pleasant. Overall - a bit hum drum!

On cask at Lord Nelson, Brigg, Lincolnshire - Rich ruby clear body, thick white head, rather pretty beer. Nose is bitter ripe fruit, lots of bitterness throughout and not always pleasant. Not sure if this was in bad condition or what, it wasn’t that good.

Cask @ The Albert, Hebden Bridge. A bland high bitterness ale. Dark golden in colour with a drab wild berry aftertaste.
