We started off by using a base of the famous Maris Otter pale malt and added oats, roast barley, chocolate, brown and crystal malts to give the beer the enticing black colour and flavours of roasted coffee, chocolate, hints of caramel and a slick smooth body from the oats and lactose. As for the hops; we’ve kept the bitterness low (around 30IBU) and used some Slovenia Bobek hops at the end of the boil to add some earthy and herbal notes that compliment the malt flavours. We then ferment it with our English ale yeast strain, which ferments cleanly at lower temperatures, allowing the malt, hops and natural hazelnut essence to come together in perfect harmony. With this beer we are really spoiling you!

Calderdale Beer Festival 2018. Black and very nutty in both aroma and taste, but equally has ice cream flavours about it too - with a flake!

Bottle from BrewDog BottleBox [210518]
Pitch black, tan head
Aroma - Nutty, hazelnut...not keen on this
Taste - Sweet dark malts, very soft roast, dab of choclate, good...only soft hazelnut...but would prefer it without
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, quite sweet. Finish of sweet dark malt, soft hazelnut, then sweet dark malts
Overall - Normally can't stand hazelnut in beers, usally horrible strong artifical flavour, but at least it's soft here...better than expected

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - black olive sheen. Thin attractive lacing. Nose - so nutty and chocolaty. Ferrero Roche indeed. Taste - milk chocolate and nuts. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Dry crunchy finish. Overall - more nuts than a Snickers. Well made and probably too much. Shame.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours black with a thin beige head. Aromas of are strongly nutty, hazelnut, almond, roasted peanuts. I think they've overdone the essence. Ferrero Rocher. NOW I GET THE AMBASSADOR JOKE. What a prick. Taste is milk chocolate and nuts. One note. Thin finish.

500ml bottle from Bottlebox. Pours pitch black with a small head. Aroma has loads of biscuitys and hazelnut, some roasty malty notes, cocoa, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Taste is sweetish, stuffy and earthy with some biscuity and roasty malts, hazelnut and creamy lactic notes. Finish is creamy, sweetish and stuffy with some earthiness, hazelnuts, chocolate and biscuits. A bit unbalanced and a bit artificial.
