De Eggens Quadrupel is een mooi donkerkleurig bier, met een volle moutsmaak. Door het gebruik van grote hoeveelheden verschillende mouten heeft dit bier niet persé één smaak, maar ga je verschillende dingen proeven in het bier. Hierbij moet je denken aan biscuit, chocola, karamel en ook wel een beetje laurier / drop. Bij dit bier is het belangrijk dat je het op de juiste temperatuur drinkt, zodat de smaken goed tot zijn recht komen. Wij adviseren dan ook om dit bier op een iets warmere temperatuur te drinken, denk hierbij aan 12-14 graden.

Clear dark brown with an off-white head. Caramel, chocolate and dried fruit aroma. Sweet taste with a sweet finish. Decent Quadrupel.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is dark malt with liquorice, caramel, candy sugar, alcohol, dried fruits, spicy notes, yeast, and a hint of paintlike off-flavour. Sweet flavour with a fairly harsh bitterness and a boozy finish. Body is medium. Simply not a good Quad, unrefined with no complexity and balance.

Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2018) im 2024-12 getrunken. Recht guter dunkler, schwerer Belgier mit schönen Malzaroma. Allerdings wirkt der Körper nicht vollmundig und nicht perfekt ausbalanciert. Ein gutes Quadrupel aber nicht mehr.

Sample (thanks omhper!). Deep coppery amber colour with a mediumsized, beigeish brown head. Aroma is alcohol, nutty, some wooden and chocolaty tones with a nice spicy yeasty edge to it. Flavour is chocolate, some spicy yeasty tones with mild alcohol sweetness, syrup and some nutty tones.

--Bottled (2022 vintage), from Just In Beer, Groningen. -- Aroma of dark sugar, cinnamon and dates. Sweet with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Brown sugar, marzipan and hay. Warming mid bitter finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Vintage 2021. Pours a clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a tiny, rough, beige head. Sweet, pruney nose, complex brown sugars. Rich, sweet, malty body. Dark, dried fruits, a hint of licorice. Warming alcohol finish. Excellent, immaculate text book Quad. 091222

0,33 l bottle from Wijnalda, Haren. 2021 batch. Darkest red brwon with a msall short living head in the glass. Sugarsweet fruity malty on the nose. Little bit alcoholic. Taste starts also sweet, dark berryfruity, short choco elements. Some increasing wood in the middle section. Silk oily. Balanced alcoholic warming. Low to zero carbonation. Really nice one. High expectations for the forthcoming infused versions.
