0.33l bottle from CrackedKettle. The Amarillo pours a heavy clouded bronze body with a massive fluffy, creamy and lasting off-white head. Aroma is lovely fruity with lots of apples, pears, peach, citrus, grapefruit, sweet malts and a little bit of alcohol. Soft carbonation, quite full-bodied and it has a thick almost chewy mouthfeel. This was really sweet! Probably the sweetest beer I've ever tasted. Lots and lots of sweet caramel, banana-sweet, some pine and quite hopy but it's not anywhere near enough to balance the heavy sweetness in this one. Ends light dry with a long lasting sweet aftertaste. Oh, and did I mention that was kinda sweet? Well, it was.

Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont, DC 10oz tap ($5hh): Pours a brownish color with an off-white head. It seems to me that I am rating a different beer than everyone else here, because the impressions I got out of it were pretty different. Anyway, aroma was musky, a tad of citrus, tobacco (like the kind from a burning cigar), and something else that I would not quite call smoke. Taste was very intense. Very much a sipping beer. Lot’s of hops mixed with a lot of malts. A good amount of sweetness in there as well. Tobacco burn all throughout the taste. I never had a beer quite like this and it makes me wonder what everyone else here had or was thinking... Even so, this was not my favorite beer ever.

Beautiful, orange yellow beer with a huge, soapy and beige head. Aroma is great, tropical fruits, peaches, grapefruits and some after rain pine forest and almost a glue. Taste is balanced with tropical fruits and piney bitterness, sweetness and bitterness are both medium without biting hops, otherwise sweetness turns smoothly to drying aftertaste that is slightly musty and herbal. Slippery and pleasant to drink, nice carbonation. Aroma and taste aren’t perfect, the bitterness is moderate, but still this beer is damn pleasant.

Cask (!) @ In De Wildeman. Red, murky color, no head to speak of, just some big bubbles. Aroma’s of citrus, sweet fruit, a bit herbal. Flavor is fairly sweet, alcoholic. Medium bodied, soft carb. Very grapefruity finish - citrussy, dry and fairly bitter. Expected a bit more.

Original rating for "De Molen Amarillo": August 20 2011: 33cl bottle @ home. Orange color, full sized head. Very nice aroma and taste of malts, hops, citrus and pine. A bit high carbonated, medium body. 9-4-8-4-16=4.1. -- Re-rate November 30th 2016: slightly unclear dark orange color, medium sized white to off-white head. Aroma is malts, only lightly hops, a bit sweetish and dusty floral hoppy hints. Tastes about the same. Quite dull, dusty, sweetish, old hops. Nothing like it was. Sadly it’s not just the name that has changed. 6-3-6-3-11=2.9

Draft at De Molen. Amber pour with lasting off white head. Aroma is grassy and fresh hops. Flavor has the eve Ted Amarillo bitterness with balancing caramel sweetness and fruit. Low carbonation and slightly thick feeling. Great balanced beer

Bottle at home in London. Pours cloudy gold with a huge, humongous white head. (Really, first pour was 95% foam, rest liquid.) Aroma holds pine, lemon and grass, along with some heavy, sweet malts and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet, malty with faint honey and sugar. Malts seem a bit smokey, interestingly. The hop character is there, a little dank, some ripened citrus fruits, subtle grass and wood. Full bodied with out-of-control carbonation that explodes in your mouth. Finishes hot, alcohol burning in the throat, moderate hop notes of grass and pine mostly, with some orange citrus, toasty malts. A very good beer, quite potent.

Süßlicher, angenehmer und starker Hopfenantrunk mit weicher und etwas cremiger Malznote, was zusammen ein sehr harmonisches Bild bietet. Das Bier wird nun etwas süßer, woran der Hopfen sich auch beteiligt. Dieser nimmt nun an Schärfe zu, während er auf seinem vollmundigen Niveau bleibt. Überaus harmonisch und aromatisch, der Hopfen breitet sich zum Ende aus, das nun noch cremigerer Malz unterstützt ihn hier. Nur seh wenig bitter, so das man den Hopfen bis tief in den Nachgeschmack genießen kann. Super! 11/12/12/13/11/13

750ml bottle, 10C. Amber to copper, large white head collapses to an inch. Aromas of nectarine, pink grapefruit, pine, caramel, white grapes, a little window cleaner. Taste is fruity and floral with light caramel sweetness and nectarines. Substantial bitterness is modest compared to the aromatics. Alcohol very well hidden. Rather overcarbonated mouthfeel at first; improves by sitting. Finishes with fruit and resin. The alcohol is quite noticeable at the end too. Normally with sort of beer a lightness of touch is praiseworthy, but this is too successful in that regard: it seems insubstantial and mainly perfumery for something so boozy.
