(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm) Dark amber colour with lasting, frothy, beige head leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of orange peel, pine needles and slight hints of yeast. Fruity, hoppy taste with orange peel, grapefruit and pine needles. Impressive hop character, with more emphasis on aroma than bitterness, resting on a solid malt foundation. Slight hints of yeast in the taste as well. More than medium body, hints of sweetness. Brilliantly balanced. Lovely beer!

Good yellow, dense head over chestnut coloured beer; end of bottle solid yeast. Ureum, dust and - oh, wonder - Amarillo hops, lytchee: all the classic characteristics. Bitter, with very hoppy-frutiy esters, banana, lytchee, rosewater, and quite some sweetness from the malt. Well-bodied. Alcohol is discreet for its 9+% ABV. Very American indeed. And good.

Re-rate 5/19/12: Bottle sample at a tasting at Rotem’s place. Thanks Dagan. Clear amber color. Hoppy aroma of pine, mango and a bit of grainy hints. Flavor has a bit of malty sweetness, light graininess and a bitter hoppy finish, somewhat piney. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Re-rate 8/13/11: Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Dror. Clear amber with a white head. Aroma of sweet grains and somewhat stale hops. Flavor starts sweet with some malt and marmalade and continues hoppy and bitter with some fruitiness. Medium-bodied. Feels old. Not calculated. 6/3/7/3/13=3.2

Bottle. Thanks David K. for this one! Deep hazy amber color with a beautiful huge beige head that lasts for a long time. Lovely powerful hoppy aroma with pine needles, some flowers, resinous notes and some citrus as well as some sweet crunchy cookies and some pine nuts. Alcoholic hoppy flavor with pine, some resin, some sweet, slightly bready, malt and some caramel. Medium-bodied, a bit of oiliness in the mouthfeel. Good even though the alcohol isn’t hidden well enough. Later update: The alcohol balances out when the beer gets a bit warmer. 8/5/7/3/15=3.8

Medium offwhite head. Hazy reddish amber body with light carbonation. Powerful mango hop aroma with metallic notes. Dry-sweet wooden mango and pepper taste with metallic notes. Fullish body, sharpish mouthfeel. Dry peppery mango aftertaste. Very nice and drinkable. (0.75l bottle, Ølbutikken, København.)

Bottle: Poured a reddish orange brown with an off white color head. Aroma is fruity with a sweet pine tree and pineapple. Taste is rich with caramel malt, yet it has just enough harsh hops to balance it. My mouth is numb and warm, very interesting beer. Molenbrouwer hits another beer right out of the park!

Bottle, from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Drunk this to kick start my hols in Crete, and what a belter it was. Hazy orange colour with a creamy off white head. Nice lace. Beautiful fruit and hop in the nose. Just knew this was going to kick ass before my lips touched the glass. Wonderful flavour with loads of hop/ citrus/tropical fruit. All balanced perfectly with some caramel maltiness. A joy to drink. Would never have guessed the ABV on this- alcohol masked superbly. Well up there with the best I’ve had. Would love a steady supply of this.

33cl Bottle, batch 386, from De Bierkoning. Clear amber colour, creamy white head. Strong aroma of hops, pine, grapefruit, some malts and caramel. Flavour is hoppy, pine, grapefruit, some sweetness. Finish is bitter and a bit burning estery alcohol. Soft carbonation, creamy thick mouthfeel, alcohol very well hidden. Dangerously drinkable.
