473 ml can. Pours a copper color with huge head. Aromas of bready malts, caramel, and sweet muddle citrus. Flavors follow same - mostly malts. Hops are earthy - may be stale. No best before date…

Medium clear brown copper body and modest foam on top. Very sugary candy hops on the nose. Flavour is heavy sugary hops and some vague malt hints. Full on the mouth with a sugary aftertaste. Overbearing and unrefined.

Philosophically-speaking, it is an odd call to revamp your flagship IPA as a California IPA (early 2000s era) in 2016 when we’ve seen successive trends towards pale malt/high fruit IPAs and then "New England" IPA. Old is new, I guess? The issue here is that it’s not all that successful, and spiritually not much of a reach from the previous incarnation of this brand. Hazy light amber. Thin head. Has an earthy hop nose, a bit on the chewy side. It’s okay, but to me this not only tastes dated but is nothing close to reaching the best that the California IPA tradition has to offer.

Draught at 12 Kings, Vancouver
Golden color, just hazy, with compact head. Hoppy aroma, a bit citrusy (oranges), and a bit yeasty. The mouthfeel is off-dry; the malt flavor is rather simple; very strong bitterness, a bit orangey, but also quite harsh in the final, chicory, indeed old style.
Ok beer, won’t look for it again though.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a hazy dull golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney and resinous hops upfront, with ample tropical fruitiness. Flavour is along the same lines, with resinous and piney hops upfront, followed by tropical fruits and a little caramel malt. Fairly sweet on the finish. Also fairly astringent but the bitterness is very pleasant. Not sure what was changes in the version, but from memory, I enjoy it more than the original; though it's still quite flawed.
