Specially selected by Lawrence Dallaglio, this refreshing golden ale has a subtle soft fruit aroma and fresh citrus taste. Brewed with pale malt and late hopped with Tettnang.

Dec 2009: Clear 500ml bottle, brewed for the English Rugby team and a sports charity. Golden pale ale, poured into an Old Speckled Hen pint vase. Almost lager looking, clear and bright. The thin white head soon left the scene, leaving a collar and a couple of wispy bits. Citrus in both aroma and taste, Pale Malts and late hopped with Tettnanger. Pleasant without being spectacular or too interesting. Crisp and the citrus tang gives it a slightly different Pale Ale edge on some of the more traditional ones. Overall, not bad. Another Greene King beer for the supermarket shelves and better than most of their offerings.

Really faint aroma of hops, some sourness in the nose too. Looks very below average, no head, weak colour. Tastes weak, slightly hoppiness, slightly watery finish. Nothing special in this specially brewed brew.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Clear gold, thin white. Some GK yeast on the aroma. Some rubberised pasteurisation too. Some moderate hop on the aroma. too. It’s lacks some punch later on due to the fact that it is pasteurised. Starts alright, but then rather dies into a citrusy blandness. It’s a good thing Lawrence was a better player than this is a good beer, or we wouldn’t have won the Rugby World Cup. Dull, but with some decent citrus flavours.

Bottle that I picked up in Sainsbury’s, Kidlington, 24-06-09 consumed in the garden last night. Pours golden with white head, sweet sickly aroma, very artificial boiled sweet nose with some malts. Taste is sweet, industrial and pretty lousy really, most impressive thing was that I finished the bottle. A4 A4 F4 P2 Ov8 2.2

50cl bottle from Sainsburys, Watford. Lager gold with a thin white head; typical GA aroma of pelleted hops; cloying citrus flavour with dusty hops and a metallic edge to the finish. Rather unpleasant.
