12 ounce can from the 2022 Aldi advent calendar, 11/11/22. Hazy pinkish, medium beige head, average retention. Aroma of cherry pile filling, pale malt. Taste is cherry, pale malt. Kinda bland.

Red cherry, sour milk, malt, and straw aroma. Ruby red with large pink head. Lightly sweet red cherry, milky biscuit malt, and lightly bitter straw flavor. Light body. In true Aldi's style - not great but not too bad especially for the price.

Can from Aldi. Pours a nice clear purple color with a big foaming pink head, promising, but ultimately let down by what's actually in the glass. First the nose is quite restrained and quiet, hints at grain. Flavor is similar, grainy and very dry with a blood-like metallic twang and light cherry notes, with a lingering blood twang aftertaste. Just a hint of cherry juice right at the front. Water like mouthfeel. So far these State of Brewing contract beers from Waunakee (and sold at Aldi it seems almost exclusively) are pretty shitty. I'm not sure of the quality of the rest of the beers from the contract site but this just furthers the notion that contract brewers are shit. This beer, when it comes down to it, is an entirely low effort blond ale (let's not even call it kolsch) with cherry syrup added for mild effect. Whoever designed this deserves a kick in the dick.
