Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass with a nice head. Starts fine malty, hoppy, shy yeasty notes. Fruity hints of lemon, some peaches, some orange. Flowery-hoppy notes. Shy bitter hints. Finish well balanced. Quite drinkable. Nice!

The Hopfenweizen theme, invented by Schneider in 2007 in a collaboration with Brooklyn, seems to be here to stay, and though they are still not very common, interesting beers emerge from this theme every now and then, often using New World hops to accentuate the 'Hopfen' part; this is another Bavarian example, created by Weiherer in Viereth-Weiher in the Bamberg region. 'German' half liter bottle bought at Geers. Thick, foamy, egg-white, very regular, pillowy, dense, membrane-lacing, very stable (wheat-enhanced) head resting on an initially only lightly hazed old gold coloured beer with warm peachy hue and lots of visible sparkling, turning a bit more misty and orangey with sediment. Attractive aroma of brioche bread, old cake, banana but not too much, dust and old cotton cloth, red apple slices, very old white pepper, dried lemon peel, orange zest even (the Cascade speaking, I reckon), dried thyme, clove, dry hay, white bread crust, peach, vague hint of wet clay. Fruity onset, sweetish with notes of ripe pear, banana, red apple and peach, surrounded by underlying wheaty sourishness and added carbon dioxide sourishness - even if the carbonation is not too sharp here, resulting in a soft, fluffy, rounded mouthfeel. The wheat sourishness continues under a soft, brioche-bready barley maltiness, extending the sweeter side of the beer to a quenching, drier finish, in which both clove-like phenols, lingering ripe yellow fruit and, of course, floral and citrusy hops make for an interesting and vibrant play of flavours. The hops exert a soft grassy and citric bitterness, remaining in balance with the phenols, esters and sweet maltiness - so instead of crudely imposing themselves upon this fine Weisse, they integrate into it completely, in a somewhat juicy, fruity, refreshing way. A lovely yeasty breadiness remains lingering in the throat - an important detail often absent in non-German or 'macro-brewed' Weissbiere. German - or Bambergian - 'Gründlichkeit' for sure, but also very elegant, easily drinkable, perfectly balanced and perfectly flawless. I love a solid German beer from time to time and this one certainly qualifies.

Bottle picked up from Sulzberger Bierhaus Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm consumed at home Sunday 21st August 2022 listening to Ghum - Bitter. Pours hazy yellowy colour with a large white head. Is this as good as the Schneider Weisse Festweisse or other similarly impressive hop forward wheat beers? No not quite, but it's very good, fruity, with a nice hop and banana tag team, soft moutheel, tingling carbonation. A little wheaty and bitterness interplay.

Amazingly orange in the sunlight. Hazy too with a foamy head that lingers. Citrus and banana aroma. Taste is bitter with a slightly citric finish. Sweet, lingering hints of bubblegum. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Refreshing in its own way. Nice!

Hazy golden. Aroma is sweet banana lots of yeast and light grapefruit. Strangely enough also a little spicy deep fried food(?). I expected a bit more from the hops. Taste is sweet banana and yeasty doughy mouthfeel. Only in the finish there are notes of tropic fruit hop bitterness and lime. Quite drinkable and not a bad weizen. But the hop is a bit weak....
