Bottle. Dark amber pour. Aroma of oaky red wine, raisin, caramel, figs, malt and some yeast. Taste has bitter burned caramel, oaky red grape, raisin, bitter figs, malt, yeast and a lot of booze. Was hoping that the wine barrel would be more fruity and smooth, this is a bit harsh and too burned. Doesn't max out on its potential.

Clear deep amber beer, patchy bubbly tan head that dies away quickly. A touch of cognac on the snout. The palate is pretty light for the abv, decent fine carbonation. Thin malts have a good dark toffee streak that isn't that sweet. A smooth boozy mid into a licorice streaked cognac. Light and semi dry finish leaves more licorice cognac, getting savoury. Red Wine barrel? You could have fooled me. Not bad. Could do with some more depth but I like the bones on this one.

Bottle. Color: Dark ruby to copper, very thin beige head. Aroma: Sweetish dark fruit, caramel. Taste: Medium sweet, caramel, toffee, fudge. Hints of roasted malt, notes of dark fruit, raisins. Some hop. Subtle red wine and wood, booze. Somewhat more red wine at finish. Light hints of nuts. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Quite nice. Warming mouthfeel. Well balanced, although pretty sweet, but indeed not too sweet.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color, some dried fruit and caramel in the vinous aroma and flavor. Hint of roast. Sweet but not too sweet. Some remaining earthy hops. Low on carbon. Nice and balanced.
