A full bodied, warming ale of 4.7% ABV. Brewed with well-roasted malts and generous amounts of English hops, for a satisfying finish. The use of wheat malt as well as finest Pale Maris Otter malt results in a rich, full malty flavour. A blend of Fuggles and Goldings hops give good depth to the bitter finish of the beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2017. Deep amber in colour, with a small, off-white, head. Caramel, ripe, bready, malts, a suggestion of red berry fruit, and a touch of leafy hop, before a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at the Falcon, HW, 30/03/17. Amber to copper with a decent beige covering. Nose is brown bread, toffee, biscuit, light fruit esters, a touch thin. Taste comprises biscuit, bread, toffee, straw, brown sugar, a trace of diacetyl me thinks. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close with a light chemical rinse and bittering effect. Not great.

Clear amber colour, medium sized slightly beige-ish creamy off-white head; aroma of some bread, caramel and minimal floral notes; taste of malty sweetness and toasted bitterness with a quite strange, but still good dried cherry-dark chocolate combo; if it was not that watery as it is, it could be a really good ale

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Amber with a negligible off-white head. Diacetyl and dust overlay too-sweet toffee malt. A dirty, dirty beer.

On cask @ the Booking Office. Appearance - golden with a nice fluffy head. Nose - interesting bitter cherry stone note. Toffee too. It culminates in a marzipan note. Taste - loads of the dried red fruit, marzipan again. Light toffee at the back. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture. The finish is dry and crunchy. Overall - this is great. It’s a bit challenging but the effort gives a generous reward.
