This is a blonde ale, brewed with East Anglian Pale Ale malt and English hedgerow hops. Light and crisp with a lovely biscuit backbone, perfect for the summer. A distinctively different summer bitter delicious served cool. Perfect accompaniment to white fish, prawn & curry dishes. A delicate palate with hints of lemon. Brewed to celebrate all that’s great about the British Summertime!

Cask at Richard John Blackler, Liverpool. Pours a golden yellow with a samall off-white head. Fruits dominate the aroma with oranges to the fore. Oranges are there again in the mouth, but now somewhat overshadowed by floral hops and an underlying malty base. Quite bitter and some hints of lemon too, leading to a slightly sticky finish. Despite the finish, it’s reasonable.

Old notes from 2000. Vacation in Cambridge. Cask @ The Castle. Golden color. Malty in aroma and flavour, hardly bitter. Not the perfect Summer bitter as they advertised it, but tasty enough.

Cask@Charlies, Copenhagen - light golden pour with thin white head. Light fruity and malty, biscuity malt, cereal, some lemon citrus accents, grassy green hoppy notes into thin close. Great condition. Nice.

Handbill cask at the Bowling Green, Leicester. Blond, clear with a small white head. Floral buttery and grainy aroma. Taste is worse: malty, buttery and messy. Unfortunately the finish is long. Not tasty but I don’t completely hate it.

Cask at the Greyhound, Ipswich. Pours pale gold with a bubbly off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, hop, grain, fruit and grass. Toward heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Light body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Had this a fair few times years ago and I remember it being a lot better back then.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2017. Golden in colour, with a small, off-white, head. A thin tasting pale ale, with a hint of stone fruits, lager malts and moderately bitter finish. Dull all round and way below Adnams’ normal standards.
