Ever so slightly hazy copper and light brown coloured body with a thinnish off-white head that fades fast. Aroma of the bourbon barrels, dry malts, peat, alcohol, tart fruits, vanilla, more alcohol and definitely more oak than anything else. Medium-bodied; Assertive bourbon notes up front with a oaky and dry character right behind showing some tart fruits and an ever so lightly soured flavour, but the vanilla, alcohol, peaty and earthy notes and especially the bourbon flavours hit hard and strong. Aftertaste is deep and assertive with the dry and grainy flavours coming out first, but some light fruit and tart characteristics show through, all ending with a lot of vanilla, oak, dry grain and a bunch of alcohol - feels more than 7,7%. Overall, a nice and complex beer, even if the flavours weren't my favourite, but the oak, vanilla and peaty grainy flavours make this interesting, but it isn't really a sour, it definitely isn't a 'wild' beer and only feels strong because of the bourbon barrel aging, but should probably be tucked away in the American Strong Ale category, even though this is far from Strong. Not really worth trying to find and if you still have a bottle of this like I did, it's probably best to drink it now, i'm not sure how much more mellow this will get. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Beverage Warehouse in Winooski, Vermont on 19-September-2016 for US$10,04 sampled at home in Washington almost two years later on 28-June-2018.

650ml bottle. Pours red brown. Oak, vanilla, smoke, lemon, bourbon. A bit too much barrel, nice amount of sour but not enough anything else. One ingredient away from being nice, but as it is it’s a bit unbalanced.

Draught@CBC2016. Orangeish amber colour with a mediumsized foamy off-white head, which leaves some lace. aroma is sweet malts, some citrus, mild tartness along with some vanilla notes. Flavour is bourbon, wood, some vanilla as well as quite dry floral and fruity notes with some sweetish malts as well. Nicely dry and tart, yet enough sweetness to keep it in a nice balance.

Bottle at Culmination Fest 16: Poured a reddish brown with a off white head. Aroma was boozy, sour, woodsy. Taste was interesting with a sweet and sour mix, sweet malt, booze, sour oak, fruit all wrapped into one.
