nice red amber color, very very small head, nice lacing, and retention. aroma is lots of floral hops, and some really nice caramel and ripe fruit. flavor is very much hops, and caramel, very mellow, but strong at the same time. quite bitter in the end, alcohol is present, but not too much, very nice barley wine.

Nydelig, om enn litt skarp. Men temmelig tørr og med endel bitterhet. Det fungerer ypperlig. Nydelig autentisk aroma.

2004 bottle. A hazed dark reddish amber barley wine with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, licorice, vinous notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with light dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice.

This is a 2016 bottle. The Aromas are caramel malt, prunes, raisins and Oak. Flavors are somewhat like nose, a little Sweet at First followed with a lot of bitter. Some spice in the aroma and flavor also. Slightly soft carbonation and decent body but the lingering bitter gets a little in the way. Booze starts coming out in the Finish.

Bottle thanks to Bursprak. Pours hazy dark brown/red with a medium offwhite head. Aroma is full of dark fruits, malts, caramel, subtle hoppiness, fresh citrus. Taste is malty, hoppy, caramel, red berries, bitter, orange, piney.

Bottle from SoLan, thanks! 11% on the label. Orange dark brown color. Malt, plums, blackberries and a hint of oak in the aroma. Sweet, syrupy, malty flavor with plums, peppermint, oak and earthy hops. Blackcurrant, vanilla. Slightly alcoholic, but still well balanced.

2013 Bottle at home, shared with Dad, Christmas dinner, 16th December 18. Pours a dark brown amber beer, quite clear, white bubbly head. Aroma is candied orange, caramel, bitter pine. Taste is bitter sweet, spruce, pine, candied orange, citrus peel. Delicious bitter and refined barley wine, fantastic stuff.

No clear smell. Cloudy copper colour, white head. Aroma of hops, nuts, alcohol, oak, maybe some vanilla. Flat carbon. Very sweet.

Vintage 2013. Holds up very well, having grown an intense caramel backbone without turning syrupy or cloy. Molasses, dried fig, tobacco, and dried apple add heft to the middle, while the back end dries out, with a pine-laced bitter fade accented by toffee and a touch of maraschino cherry. Booziness has all but disappeared, leaving a thick, oozing pint of barleywine goodness. Buttered caramel on the nose. Pours red-amber with a brief off-white head and modest lacing. Delicious.

22 ounce bottle. 2016 vintage. Translucent garnet color. Small creamy beige head. Rich toffeeish toasted malt nose. Intensely bittersweet, chewy malt flavor. Notes of bitter herbal hops and burnt sugar in middle. Finish is freshly cracked black pepper, arugula and roasted nuts. Amazingly intense flavors, though smooth and approachable for an 11% ABV Barleywine.
