Bottle, 12oz. I tend to love barley wines, and this one is helping me understand why. It pours a semi-clear, deep golden body, with an off-white head. The aroma has pine, camphor, some alcohol, hops and a lot of maltyness. The flavor is very malty, but they put enough hops in it to balance it very nicely, giving it a piney, almost astringent touch. I tend to like my barley wines less hoppy, but they are sure nice at this hop level too. Full body for sure. The finish is tad too bitter for my likings, but I don’t care too much, it’s lovely anyway. (071123)

Bottle. Pours burnt and cloudy orange. Small head. Aroma of citrus and raisin. Almost smells like orange juice. Tastes like a little glassful of heaven. Citrus, toffee, hops at the end, Taste is tight, and very delicious. One of the best I’ve tried. Part 2 of 5 of my barleywine fest. This if a multi-night "fest." If not, I would definitely be living up to this beer’s name.

Floral pineapple aroma with toffee undertones. Cloudy copper color with a medium yellow head. Sweet, somewhat viscous, flavorful. Tastes mainly of horehound, but smoke and grapefruit is there too to a much lesser degree. Becomes more balanced during warming. Delayed, but good hop finish. ABV is hardly noticeable.

bottle shared by bdigi66 - Pours dark amber with just a little foam. The aroma is mainly sweet malts. The flavor has some nice complexity and balance with sweet malts, plenty of hops, and some dark fruitiness creeping in there. Full bodied and finishing on the dry side, this barley wine is very good.

This beer looks great. It is a deep brown, with a beige head forming over it. The head grows too large if you don’t pour it just right. It actually looks so nice that when I poured mine in a glass one of my friends demanded that I bring him a glass because it looked that good. The aroma is intense and fruity (citrusy). The taste slams you in the mouth. Not only is the beer thick as all hell, but the multifarious array of flavours knocks you back. It is sweet, bitter, fruity, hoppy all at the same time. The alcohol gives it a warming quality and the alcohol is nearly undetectable if it were not for the aforementioned quality. Now, typically I don’t mention this in beer reviews, but this beer is great to get drunk off of. After having two you feel like you just spent two hours at the bar. The drunk it produces is a heavy, lazy drunk, slipping you into a mild euphoria that only a beer of this quality could. It is more of a wine drunk than a beer drunk and one case of these babies will make a good 5-6 people happy.

Bottle, enjoy by Dec 12, 2011. Pours with a very small creamy head. The flavor is that of a light hoppy and citrus brew, to be frankly, mild barley wine beer. Warms completely. My bottle says 11%, so I don’t know if they’ve changed the brew since then. I think I’m gonna get another one and let it age a few years! Update: Bottle drunk 01/28/08, bottled 12/14/04. Oh wow. Aroma is mellowed greatly. Notes of vanilla, sweet, molasses. Flavor was mild vanilla, with a subtle maple and slightly sweet finish. Alcohol taste was practically non-existent for a 11% beer. Ages very well.
