Bottled. Pours black with thin head. Coffee, roasted malts and some chocolate appear in aroma and taste, but altogether it’s quite thin and watery. If they weren’t this short on components it could’ve been better.

500ml bottle from Fountainhall Wines, Abz. It pours darkest brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is earthy roast, bitter - sweet, nutty, coffee cake, milk chocolate, malt loaf and toffee. The taste is initially dry, firm, snappy, earthy roast, coffee grounds, cacao, toffee crisp, charred vibes, caramel, molasses, malt loaf and just a touch of spice with a dry, toasty finish. Average body and carbonation. Not big and showy, but does the job. Not too shabby.

Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Label ‘4.7%’. Pours very dark brown almost black with a large thick foamy beige head. Aromas of roasted malts with a hint of chocolate and coffee. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, nuts and liquorice. A touch of brown sugar and roast on the finish. Thin to medium body, fairly low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Not bad at all.
